WAlfa Planetarium was a planetarium located in Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico. This institution was created by ALFA (Mexico) in 1978 to promote science and technology in Latin America. It included an interactive science museum, an Omnimax system cinema, an aviary and an area for temporary exhibits and events. The Alfa Planetarium was one of the most visited cultural centers in Mexico.
WThe Museo de Arqueología Ganot-Peschard is an archaeology museum located in Zona Centro, Durango, Mexico. The museum plays a major role in preserving the indigenous history of Northern Mexico. The Ganot-Peschard's collection offers archeological materials from the region's landscapes and dwellings including, funeral urns, skulls, vessels, arrowheads, winches, pectorals and other ornamental materials of pre-Hispanic peoples. Its objective is to preserve and spread the archaeological heritage of Durango and the region formed by the states of Zacatecas, Sinaloa, Nayarit and Jalisco.
WModelo Museum of Science and Industry, is located in Toluca, capital city of Estado de Mexico. MUMCI's main goal is fostering people's interest in industry and related sciences. Besides permanent and temporary exhibitions, MUMCI offers other services, such as workshops, conferences, IMAX theatre, Ludotec, restaurant, bar, gift shop, and two parking lots.
WMuseo Descubre is a hands-on, interactive museum located in the city of Aguascalientes City, Aguascalientes, Mexico. Inside, the museum is shaped like a spiral, leading inward to various paths of knowledge. The museum creates a link between fun and learning by allowing visitors to actively participate by touching and playing with exhibits. The museum has exhibits on the sciences of life science, earth science, and social sciences. It also contains an IMAX dome, allowing viewers to view films in full panorama.
WThe Museum of Light is a science museum dedicated to the phenomena of light, located in the former San Ildefonso College in the historic center of Mexico City. It was opened in 1996 originally in the former church of the San Pedro y San Pablo College. However, this building was closed in 2010 in order to convert it into the Museum of the Constitutions. The Museum of Light was moved to its current and larger location, but it remains an extension of the Universum museum, the general science museum of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México.
WThe Palace of the Inquisition stands on the corner of República de Brasil and República de Venezuela streets in Mexico City, Mexico. While neither side of the building faces the Santo Domingo Plaza, the entrance does, as it is placed at the corner, which is canted to allow it to face in that direction. Its long association with the Inquisition, which ended during the Mexican War of Independence, made it difficult to convert to other purposes. However, it eventually became the School of Medicine for the reconstructed National University. When UNAM moved to the Ciudad Universitaria in the 1950s, it retained ownership of this building, eventually converting the structure in what is today the Museum of Mexican Medicine.
WUniversum is Mexico's primary museum dedicated to promoting science and technology to the public as well as support the university's science missions. It was opened in 1992 at the Ciudad Universitaria in Mexico City. Today it has thirteen halls divided by theme dedicated to various permanent exhibitions. It has worked with outside public and private entities to develop both permanent and temporary exhibitions and has worked to develop other science museums in other areas of the country.
