
8 Man (8マン) or Eightman or 8th Man is a manga and superhero anime created in 1963 by science fiction writer Kazumasa Hirai and manga artist Jiro Kuwata. 8 Man is considered as Japan's earliest cyborg superhero, pre-dating even Kamen Rider. Later that same year, Shotaro Ishinomori created Cyborg 009.

Deka Wanko is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Kozueko Morimoto. It was serialized in Japan by Shueisha in the magazine You and was collected in 12 tankōbon volumes. The series follows the adventures of Ichiko Hanamori, a young woman who, while always dressing in lolita fashion, is also a homicide detective for the Tokyo Metropolitan Police. While inexperienced and often bumbling, she solves crimes using her sense of smell, which surpasses that of the best police dog. The title refers first, to the Japanese slang term for police detective (deka), and second, to a word play on Ichiko's name. Her name in kanji is 一子, meaning "one child", but her colleagues give her the nickname "Wanko", which both combines the Japanese pronunciation of the English word "one" with "ko", and is also an affectionate term for a dog in Japanese as "wan" is also the bark of a dog.

Dragon Ball GT: A Hero's Legacy, known in Japan as Goku's Side Story! Si Xing Qiu is a Testament to Courage is the only Dragon Ball GT television special, aired in Japan on March 26, 1997, between episodes 41 and 42. The events in this special are actually a prelude to events that take place at the very end of the last episode of the series. An English dub of the special was released on DVD by Funimation in the United States on November 16, 2004. It was re-released again on the second volume of the Funimation remastered DVDs. A second English dub that features an unknown cast was produced by AB Groupe/Bluewater and aired on Toonami UK under the title Four-star Dragonball Is The Proof of Courage.

Dragon Ball Z: Bardock – The Father of Goku, known in Japan as Dragon Ball Z: A Lonesome, Final Battle - The Father of Z Warrior Son Goku, who Challenged Freeza , is the first Dragon Ball Z TV special, which is based on the popular manga Dragon Ball. It was broadcast on Fuji Television on October 17, 1990, between Dragon Ball Z episodes 63 and 64. It serves as a prequel to the Dragon Ball anime, taking place twelve years before the events in the Emperor Pilaf saga. AB Groupe's title is Dragon Ball Z: The Father of Goku. In 2011, a sequel manga called Dragon Ball: Episode of Bardock was created and adapted into a short film.

The Remaining Super-Warriors: Gohan and Trunks is a TV special anime based on Akira Toriyama's Dragon Ball manga series. Originally airing in Japan on February 24, 1993, between episodes 175 and 176, the special is based on an extra chapter of the manga series. It depicts an alternate version of the future in which Goku dies from the heart virus and a teenage Trunks tries to defeat the androids as they ravage Earth.

The Dragon Dentist is an 8-minute-long original net animation written and directed by Ōtarō Maijō that was released as the first part of Hideaki Anno's Animator Expo. The story follows a girl who is tasked with becoming a dentist for a dragon. A two-part anime television special adaptation was aired in February 2017.

"Dream 9 Toriko & One Piece & Dragon Ball Z Super Collaboration Special" is an animated crossover television special which aired on April 7, 2013, on Fuji TV. It was made to commemorate the start of the third year of the Toriko anime, which premiered in April 2011, and it features characters from Dragon Ball Z, One Piece and Toriko. The special consists of two episodes which aired together: Episode 99 of Toriko, Run, Strongest Team! Toriko, Luffy, and Goku! (走れ最強軍団!トリコとルフィと悟空!), and episode 590 of One Piece, The Mightiest Collaboration in History vs. the Gluttonous of the Sea (史上最強コラボVS海の大食漢).

It was serialized by Kodansha in the magazine Shōjo Friend from 1975 to 1977. The title can be literally translated into English as Here Comes Miss Modern, Here Comes Miss High-Collar, or Fashionable Girl Passing By. In 1977, it was awarded the 1st Kodansha Manga Award for shojo.

Hi no Sakana is a Japanese novel by Murō Saisei; it was first published in 1960, and was later adapted into a single episode TV drama that was broadcast on NHK Hiroshima in 2009. The story describes the interactions between an elderly author and a young staffer from a publishing company as they collaborate on a book cover design for the author's latest novel.

In This Corner of the World is a manga series written and illustrated by Fumiyo Kōno which ran from 2007 to 2009 in Weekly Manga Action. It follows the life of Suzu Urano, a young bride with her new family living on the outskirts of Kure City during the Second World War. It was translated by JManga under the title To All the Corners of the World. After JManga closed, Futabasha published the manga digitally and made it available to read on BookWalker, a digital manga store, and app. It was later licensed by Seven Seas Entertainment for release in North America with the original title. It was adapted into a live-action television special in 2011. An anime theatrical film adaptation was released in 2016. A TV live action series was broadcast on TBS from July to September 2018.

Kiteretsu Daihyakka is a Japanese manga series by Fujiko Fujio and later Fujiko F. Fujio, which ran in the children's magazine Kodomo no Hikari from April 1974 to July 1977. The manga was later made into a 331-episode anime television series which ran on Fuji TV from 27 March 1988 to 9 June 1996. The series was licensed for Spain by LUK Internacional under the title of "Kiteretsu, el primo más listo de Nobita".

NHK Kōhaku Uta Gassen , more commonly known simply as Kōhaku, is an annual New Year's Eve television special produced by Japanese public broadcaster NHK. It is broadcast live simultaneously on television and radio, nationally and internationally by the NHK network and by some overseas broadcasters who buy the program. The show ends shortly before midnight. Before the show began broadcasting on television in late 1953, the show was held on 3 January and only consisted of a radio broadcast.

The series was adapted into a movie, an anime television series, and a live-action television drama. It was very popular in Japan and was one of the winners of the 1982 Shogakukan Manga Award for shōnen and shōjo manga, along with Adachi's Touch.

The series was adapted into three anime television films and a live-action television drama. An altered version of the first anime film was released in theaters, with new and re-arranged music.

Pokémon: The Mastermind of Mirage Pokémon, is a special hour-long episode of the Pokémon anime series created for the tenth anniversary of the franchise. This special premiered on Kids' WB on April 29, 2006. It became available on DVD in the United States on September 19 that year as a special feature on the 2-disc Pokémon: Lucario and the Mystery of Mew release, and the original dub aired on October 28 in the same year on Cartoon Network. In Japan the special was available for download on the official site from October 13-October 31, 2006. The events of the specials take place during the 8th season of Pokémon: Advanced Battle.
Pokémon: Mewtwo Returns, released in Japan as Pocket Monsters: Mewtwo! Ware wa Koko ni Ari: MEWTWO SAGA , is a special hour-long episode of the Pokémon anime series, and is a direct sequel to Pokémon: The First Movie. It was first broadcast in Japan on December 30, 2000 and was released on VHS and DVD in Japan on March 21, 2001. It went direct-to-video in Australia on August 17, 2001 then in the United States and Canada on December 4, 2001 and in the UK on February 11, 2002. The events of the specials take place during the fourth season of Pokémon: Johto League Champions.

Ranma ½ is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Rumiko Takahashi. It was serialized in Weekly Shōnen Sunday from August 1987 to March 1996, with the chapters collected into 38 tankōbon volumes by Shogakukan. The story revolves around a teenage boy named Ranma Saotome who has trained in martial arts since early childhood. As a result of an accident during a training journey, he is cursed to become a girl when splashed with cold water, while hot water changes him back into a boy. Throughout the series Ranma seeks out a way to rid himself of his curse, while his friends, enemies and many fiancées constantly hinder and interfere.

Studio Ghibli is a Japanese animation film studio founded in 1985. In addition to producing 18 feature films, the studio has produced several short films, including commercials, films for the Ghibli Museum, music videos, and works released directly to video.

Skull Man is a shōnen manga series created by Shotaro Ishinomori which first appeared in Weekly Shōnen Magazine in 1970. The hero of the story, whose parents have been murdered, grows up to use his peculiar powers to take revenge. The original Skull Man was one of the first antiheroes to be seen in manga, someone who would sacrifice the lives of innocents in his quest for vengeance.

They Were Eleven is a Japanese science fiction manga series written and illustrated by Moto Hagio. It was serialized in three issues of Shogakukan's Bessatsu Shōjo Comic magazine in 1975. The following year, it won the 21st Shogakukan Manga Award in the combined shōjo and shōnen category. The series has inspired a live-action television film, an anime film, multiple stage plays, and an audio drama CD. It also inspired a sequel manga series, Zoku Jūichinin Iru! Higashi no Chihei, Nishi no Towa , serialized in Bessatsu Shōjo Comic magazine from 1976 to 1977. They Were Eleven was originally licensed in English by Viz Media and published in the manga anthology Four Shōjo Stories in 1996. The series and its sequel have been licensed by Denpa for a new English-language release in 2022. The anime film was originally licensed in English by Central Park Media, but it was discontinued in 2004.

Touch is a Japanese high school baseball manga series written and illustrated by Mitsuru Adachi. It was originally serialized in Weekly Shōnen Sunday from 1981 to 1986.

Umizaru is a manga series by Shūhō Satō which was serialized by Shogakukan in Weekly Young Sunday from 1998 to 2001. Yōichi Komori is credited with the original idea for the series, and he also did the research to make the series more authentic.
