The Australasian Zionist Youth Council (AZYC) was established to strengthen zionist aims in Australia by facilitating collaboration amongst Australian Zionist youth movements. It is the umbrella organisation for seven Zionist youth movements in Australia and New Zealand. The seven member movements have branches in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Brisbane, Adelaide and Canberra in Australia and Auckland and Wellington in New Zealand.

The Betar Movement is a Revisionist Zionist youth movement founded in 1923 in Riga, Latvia, by Vladimir (Ze'ev) Jabotinsky. Chapters sprang up across Europe, even during World War II. After the war and during the settlement of what became Israel, Betar was traditionally linked to the original Herut and then Likud political parties of Jewish pioneers. It was closely affiliated with the pre-Israel Revisionist Zionist paramilitary group Irgun Zevai Leumi. It was one of many right-wing movements and youth groups arising at that time that adopted special salutes and uniforms. Some of the most prominent politicians of Israel were Betarim in their youth, most notably prime ministers Yitzhak Shamir and Menachem Begin, an admirer of Jabotinsky.

The Betar Naval Academy was a Jewish naval training school established in Civitavecchia, Italy in 1934 by the Revisionist Zionist movement under the direction of Ze'ev Jabotinsky, with the agreement of Benito Mussolini. The titular head of the Academy was the Italian maritime scientist Nicola Fusco but Betar leader Jeremiah Halpern ran the School and was its driving force. The Academy trained cadets from all over Europe, Palestine and South Africa and produced some of the future commanders of the Israeli Navy.

The Platoon of the Wall was a group made up of Betar members in Mandatory Palestine that defended the rights of Jews at the Western Wall in the years 1937- 1938, and guarded the Old City using concealed stores of arms and clubs and accompanied Jewish worshipers to and from the Western Wall. Members were also responsible for the blowing of the shofar at the Western Wall, which was deemed illegal by the British authorities. A street in the Old City of Jerusalem is named in its honor.
