WAkagi: Yami ni Oritatta Tensai is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Nobuyuki Fukumoto. First published in 1991 in Takeshobo's weekly magazine Kindai Mahjong, it is a spin-off prequel of the author's previous work, Ten. It revolves around Shigeru Akagi, a boy who defeats yakuza members well versed in mahjong at 13. He returns to the game six years later, carrying a mythical status and still impresses his opponents.
WFuriten-kun (フリテンくん) is a yonkoma manga series by Masashi Ueda which has been serialized in several magazine. In the early 1980s, the manga was published simultaneously in Takeshobo's Kindai Mahjong, Kindai Mahjong Original, and Gamble Punch. It was then published in Manga Life magazine from November 1984 to 1994. The series was started again in January 2001 and is currently running in Manga Life. The title of the series was changed to Shin Furiten-kun (新フリテンくん) in March 2002. The manga was adapted into a theatrical film and an OVA in the early 1980s.
WGolden Sakura is a sports manga series about mahjong, written by professional mahjong player Sayaka Okada and drawn by Kazuo Maekawa. It was serialized by Takeshobo in the magazine Kindai Mahjong from December 29, 2018, to September 1, 2020, and was collected in three tankōbon volumes in 2019–2020.
WGambling Apocalypse: Kaiji is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Nobuyuki Fukumoto. It has been published in Kodansha's seinen manga magazine Weekly Young Magazine since February 1996. The story centers on Kaiji Itō, a consummate gambler and his misadventures around gambling. The Kaiji manga currently consists of six series; the current series, Tobaku Datenroku Kaiji: 24 Oku Dasshutsu-hen, started in 2017.
WThe Legend of the Gambler: Tetsuya is a Japanese gambling manga series written by Fūmei Sai and illustrated by Yasushi Hoshino. It was serialized in Weekly Shōnen Magazine from July 1997 to January 2005. It was adapted by Toei Animation into a 20-episode anime television series, broadcast on TV Asahi from October 2000 to March 2001. WMahjong Hishō-den: Naki no Ryū is a Japanese mahjong-themed manga series written and illustrated by Junichi Nojo. It was serialized in Takeshobo's Bessatsu Kindai Mahjong between 1985 and 1990. It was adapted into a three-episode original video animation (OVA) between 1988 and 1990.
WMudazumo Naki Kaikaku is a Japanese satirical mahjong manga series by Hideki Ohwada. It was initially irregularly serialized in the Kindai Mahjong Original manga magazine published by Takeshobo, then switched to bimonthly serialization on Takeshobo's other mahjong manga magazine Kindai Mahjong in April 2009. An anime adaptation was released on February 26, 2010 as an original video anime. The premise of the manga is that international diplomacy is settled on the mahjong table, with real-life politicians depicted as masters of mahjong. The Japanese title is a parody of Junichiro Koizumi's slogan, "Reform with No Sanctuary" .

WTen: Tenhō-dōri no Kaidanji is a mahjong-centric Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Nobuyuki Fukumoto. It was serialized in Takeshobo's Kindai Mahjong Gold from 1989 to 2002, with its chapters collected in eighteen tankōbon volumes. Considered a hit in Japan, it was followed by a prequel focusing on one of the supporting characters Akagi in 1991.
WYami-ma no Mamiya is a Japanse manga series written and illustrated by Nobuyuki Fukumoto. It is a sequel to Fukumoto's manga Ten, set 20 years later. It has been serialized in Takeshobo's Kindai Mahjong since July 2019.
