
This list of birds of the United States is a comprehensive listing of all the bird species confirmed in the United States as of July, 2020. It includes species from all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and all U.S. territories.

This list of birds of Alabama contains species documented in the U.S. state of Alabama, as accepted by the Bird Records Committee (BRC) of the Alabama Ornithological Society. As of July 2017, there were 446 species on the official list. Between when that list was published and July 2020, three additional species have been documented through eBird. Of the 449 species, 155 are considered accidental, 13 of which are further considered hypothetical. Six species were introduced to the state, three are extinct, and one which is listed as extirpated might also be extinct. Birds that are considered probable escapees, although they may have been sighted flying free, are not included.

The list of birds of Alaska includes every wild bird species recorded in the U.S. state of Alaska, based on the list published by the Alaska Checklist Committee. As of January 2020, there were 528 species on the official list. The 2020 taxonomic revisions of the Check-list of North and Middle American Birds lumped one of them into another. Of the remaining 527 species, 54 are considered rare, 151 are casual, and 75 are accidental, all as defined below. Another 16 and a species pair are considered unsubstantiated.

This list of birds of Arizona includes every wild bird species seen in Arizona, as recorded by the Arizona Bird Committee (ABC) through October 2018.

This list of birds of Arkansas includes species documented in the U.S. state of Arkansas and accepted by the Arkansas Audubon Society (AAS). As of August 2018, there were 419 species included in the official list. Through June 2020, two additional species have been documented on eBird but not yet assessed by the AAS. Of the 421 species, 48 are classed as very rare, four are classed as occasional, 52 are classed as accidental, five have been introduced to North America, three are known to be extinct, and five have been extirpated.

This list of birds of Connecticut is a comprehensive account of all the bird species recorded from the U.S. state of Connecticut. Unless otherwise noted, this list is based on the checklist produced by the Avian Records Committee of Connecticut (ARCC) dated May 10, 2020, the list used by most birders to objectively evaluate species recorded in the state.

This list of birds of the District of Columbia contains 345 species. Of them, 62 are considered rare or accidental, two are extinct, and one has been extirpated. Four have been introduced to North America and another introduced to the eastern U.S.

This list of birds of Florida includes species documented in the U.S. state of Florida and accepted by the Florida Ornithological Society Records Committee (FOSRC). As of December 31, 2018, there were 525 species included in the official list. Of them, 159 species and eight identifiable subspecies are classed as accidental, 14 have been introduced to North America, four are extinct, and one has been extirpated. More than 100 "verifiable...exotic species [are] found free-flying in the wild" according to the FOSRC.

This is a comprehensive list of the bird species recorded in Glacier National Park, which is in the U.S. state of Montana. The list is based on the Glacier Bird Checklist published by the National Park Service dated November 2015. There are 480 species and two species pairs included in the official list. Six additional species of uncertain origin are also included in this page.

As of January 2019, 546 species are included in the official list. Of them, 169 are on the review list, five species have been introduced to North America, and three have been extirpated. One additional common species has been added by the 2020 taxonomic revisions to the Check-list of North and Middle American Birds and an additional extirpated species has been added from another source.

This list of birds of New York includes the 494 species and a species pair of wild birds documented in New York as of July 2020. Unless noted otherwise, the source is the Checklist of New York State Birds published by the New York State Avian Records Committee (NYSARC) of the New York State Ornithological Association. These species represent 23 orders and 67 families of birds. An additional, "hypothetical", species is also noted by NYSARC.

This list of birds of North Carolina includes species documented in the U.S. state of North Carolina and accepted by the North Carolina Bird Records Committee (NCBRC) of the Carolina Bird Club. As of January 2019, there are 469 species and a species pair definitively included in the official list. Twelve additional species, one of which is identified only at the genus level, are on the list but classed as provisional. Between January 2019 and July 2020, four more species were reported to eBird. Of the resulting 486 species, 89 are rare anywhere in the state, 92 are rare in some part of the state or in a single season, six have been introduced to North America, and four are extinct.

This list of birds of North Dakota includes species documented in the U.S. state of North Dakota. The list is derived from Checklist of North Dakota Birds produced in April 2016 by the North Dakota Game and Fish Department (NDGFD). The basic NDGFD list contains 375 confirmed and extant species, two extinct species, and 20 species classed as hypothetical. Seventeen additional species have been added from eBird records and three more from the North Dakota Bird Records Committee (NDBRC) review list which are not found in the other sources. As of July 2020, the combined lists contained 415 species. Of them, 162 and a subspecies are on the review list. The NDGFD list considers 44 species to be accidental, and eight species have been introduced to North America.

Of them, 193 have been documented as breeding in the state, and 134 are review species as defined below. Eight species found in Ohio have been introduced to North America. Three more species have been creditably reported to eBird through June 2020; their records are pending at the OBRC. This list of Oregon birds lists wild bird species found in the U.S. state of Oregon and accepted by the Oregon Bird Records Committee (OBRC). As of May 2020, there are 542 species on the list. Of them, 158 are on the review list. Nine species were introduced to Oregon or elsewhere in North America; one of them and two others have been extirpated from the state.

In addition, 109 are considered vagrants, six have been introduced to North America, and two are extinct. The state's review list contains 127 species.

As of late 2017, there were 424 species definitively included in the official list. Thirteen additional species are on the list but classed as Provisional I. Of the 437 species on the primary list, 108 are rare anywhere in the state, 36 are rare away from the coast, five have been introduced to North America, and four are extinct. As of August 2017, 438 species were included in the official list. No additional species were recorded in eBird between that date and early July 2020. Of the 438, 85 are classed as accidental, 32 are classed as casual, six are hypothetical, and eight have been introduced to North America.

Of the vagrants, six are additionally classed as hypothetical. Seven species were introduced to North America or directly to Vermont, one is extinct, and two have been extirpated.

This list of birds of Virginia includes species credibly documented in the U.S. state of Virginia by the Virginia Avian Records Committee of the Virginia Society of Ornithology (VARCOM). As of October 2019 the list contained 474 species and three species pairs. Of them, 92 are considered accidental and 89 are considered rare. Seven species were introduced to North America, one is extinct, and one has been extirpated. Four additional species, now extinct, are believed to have occurred in Virginia, but there is insufficient evidence to include them in the main list.
