In the following year he won the Mijakooji Stakes, Epsom Cup and Mainichi Okan in Japan before establishing himself as one of the best racehorses in the world with a victory in the Hong Kong Cup. In the spring of 2016 he was sent to Europe and began his campaign with a ten length win in the Prix d'Ispahan.

At the end of the year he was the top-rated juvenile in Japan and took the JRA Award for Best Two-Year-Old Colt. In the following year he was beaten in the Spring Stakes and the Satsuki Sho before reverting to dirt and winning the Leopard Stakes. He raced sporadically over the next two seasons but never won again.

He produced his best performance as a juvenile in 2013 when he won four of his five races including the Gimcrack Stakes and Middle Park Stakes. He failed to win in the following year but came back to form in the early part of 2015 when he won the Abernant Stakes and finished third in the Diamond Jubilee Stakes. He died of colic in August that year.

In May 2014 he finished third behind Night of Thunder and Kingman in the 2000 Guineas before winning the Epsom Derby on 7 June. He subsequently won the Irish Derby and International Stakes before being defeated by The Grey Gatsby in the Irish Champion Stakes. His racing career was ended by injury in October 2014. He is standing at Coolmore stud.

In 2016, she won her first four starts and was then sent to England, where she defeated a field of leading European milers to win the Queen Anne Stakes. On returning to North America, she extended her winning streak to eight in the Woodbine Mile. The streak included three Grade/Group 1 wins against male horses in three different countries. Although Tepin finished second in her next two starts including an effort to defend her title in the Breeders Cup Mile, she was still named the Champion Female Turf Horse for the second year in a row.

He finished second to Shared Belief the Pacific Classic before producing his most notable performance when beaten a nose by Bayern in the $5 million Breeders' Cup Classic. He sustained an injury which prevented a planned run in the 2015 Dubai World Cup and was retired to stud in Qatar. He returned to racing after a three-year gap in November 2017 and won a minor conditions race on his reappearance.

In 2016 he recorded another major win in the Bet365 Mile. He was retired to stand as a stallion at the end of the 2016 season but returned to training early in 2018. He suffered a fatal injury on the gallops in Dubai 22 February 2018.
