The series consists of three main titles, Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc, Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair, Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony, and a third person shooter spin-off, Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls. Multiple smartphone titles, as well as various manga and novel adaptations and spin-off series, have also been released, and two anime television series, Danganronpa: The Animation and Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope's Peak High School, have been produced by Lerche. The games are published in North America and Europe by NIS America. The series' name is a compound of dangan and ronpa .

The Animation was created by Lerche and licensed by Madman Entertainment in Australia, Funimation in North America, and Manga Entertainment in Europe. The series ran for thirteen episodes, and follows an abridged version of the plot of the video game with minimal changes, animating over the game's execution scenes.

Danganronpa: Unlimited Battle was an action video game in the Danganronpa series, developed and published by Spike Chunsoft. It was released in Japan for iOS and Android platforms in early 2015, and ceased operations later that year. The gameplay involved using the touchscreen to shoot the characters from the player's team, as with billiards, towards enemies in a confined arena-like area. The game was free to play, and featured in-game currency purchased through microtransactions, used to gain access to new content or get advantages in gameplay.

The series is part of Spike Chunsoft's Danganronpa franchise and serves as a conclusion to the "Hope's Peak Academy" storyline featured in the video games Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc, Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair, and Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls. The series is divided into two parts that aired simultaneously: Future Arc, which aired in Japan between July 11, 2016 and September 26, 2016, and Despair Arc, which aired between July 14, 2016 and September 22, 2016, followed by a final episode, Hope Arc, which aired on September 29, 2016. An original video animation titled Super Danganronpa 2.5, set between Danganronpa 2 and Future Arc, was released with limited editions of Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony on January 12, 2017.

Danganronpa: The Animation is a 2013 anime television series based on Spike Chunsoft's murder mystery video game, Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc. The series follows a boy named Makoto Naegi who, along with fourteen other unique students, is imprisoned inside the elite Hope's Peak Academy, where a psychotic remote-controlled bear named Monokuma offers them only one means of escape: murder another student and get away with it.
