Moreover, the Minister of Defence is the Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission, a Member of the Politburo and Member of Council for National Defense and Security. The current Vietnamese Minister of Defence is 4 star Army General Ngô Xuân Lịch, since 9 April 2016.
