
The Combat Training Center at Arta Beach (CECAP), or Centre d'entraînement au combat d'Arta Plage, is a French Army training facility located in Arta, Djibouti. The Combat Training Center is run by the members of the French Foreign Legion and is part of the headquarters company of 13th Demi-Brigade of the Foreign Legion.

The Disciplinary Company of the Foreign Regiments in the Far East created on June 1 1946, was the disciplinary company for serious offenders from all Foreign Regiments in the Far East. The main Disciplinary Company of the Foreign Legion (CDLE), which received those sent from Legion regiments garrisoned or operating in Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, the Levant and Tonkin was dissolved on July 1 1964, the latter was based on rules and regulations set by général Rollet in 1931.

The Foreign Legion Recruiting Group is an administrative unit of the French Foreign Legion responsible for recruiting volunteers from around the globe. The unit reports to the Foreign Legion Command (FLC). The FLC sets the annual recruitment objectives based on inputs from the French Army staff, l'Etat-Major de l'Armée de Terre (EMAT), and the initial projections of the Foreign Legion Human Resources Division (DRHLE).

The Jungle Training Center (CEFE), or Centre d'entraînement à la forêt équatoriale, is a French Army jungle warfare school located in French Guiana.

This article lists the principal units of the French Foreign Legion created since 1831. Legion units are only cited once, based on their respective dates of creation. A dissolved Legion unit which is recreated under the same designation will only appear once. The last section of the list re-summarizes actual Legion units in service.

While the infantry was very efficient in the Aurès, in Kabylie and all the mountainous regions, they were slow when the terrain became flat in the desert. Accordingly, at the end of the 19th century, the French Foreign Legion, and more particularly the 2nd Foreign Regiment 2e RE set on foot the mounted companies in order to allow these infantry contingents to make movement over long distances while avoiding fatigue.
