Eli Geva is an Israeli brigade commander, who during the Siege of Beirut, refused to lead his forces into the city for moral reasons which he termed "endangerment of both soldiers and civilians in urban warfare". The Israeli Chief of Staff, Rafael Eitan, and Prime Minister Menachem Begin attempted to negotiate with Geva, but he insisted and was consequently dismissed from the Israel Defense Forces. At the time, Geva was the youngest Colonel in the IDF.

Iskender Pasha was an Ottoman commander and the beylerbey of Oczakov (Ozi). In 1620 Iskender Paşa led an Ottoman army, with Wallachian contingents (13,000-22,000) against the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth at the Battle of Cecora, where he was victorious. In 1613–1614 he was the beylerbey of the Bosnia Eyalet.

Salih Jabr was an Iraqi statesman. In the 1930s and 1940s, he attended the office of minister of justice, education, foreign affairs, interior, and finance. He was the 16th prime minister of Iraq from 29 March 1947 - 27 January 1948 and the first Shiite to become prime minister. He was not accepted by young liberal and nationalist politicians who had been roughly handled when he was wartime minister of interior. During his time in office, the Anglo-Iraqi Treaty (1948), a revision of the Anglo-Iraqi Treaty (1930), was prepared and signed without consultation of other Iraqi leaders. His government fell after the bloody suppression of the anti-British Al-Wathbah uprising, he had to repudiate the treaty and fled to England on 26 January 1948.

Muzahim Saab Hassan al-Tikriti was the Air Defense Forces Commander of Iraq under the rule of Saddam Hussein from 1999 until 2003.

Mustafa Mahmood Al-Umari from Mosul, Iraq (Sunni-Arab) who became an Iraqi statesman. He served as prime minister from 9 July 1952 until 22 November 1952. He was appointed by King Faisal II's cousin and regent 'Abd al-Ilāh after nationwide protests against the government. Starting out as an attorney and civil servant, he served many posts including Minister of Interior and Minister of Justice. In 1952, his failure to maintain control during the Intifada cost him his position. He was also a provincial Governor and Senator in Parliament. After the 1958 revolution against the Monarchy, he left the political scene. Being an independent, he was not associated with many of the royalists or partisans who were jailed or executed in the aftermath of the revolution. He later left to the UK for medical treatment and died there. He was later buried in the Al-Omari waqf cemetery in Mosul, Iraq.

Mashal Mohammad Al-Zaben was the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Jordanian Armed Forces between 23 February 2010 and 2 October 2016. On 22 May 2012 Al-Zaben was promoted to General, and received the Istiqlal Medal of the First Order.

Ayad Khalil Zaki was an Iraqi Army General. A career Combat engineering officer, he later served as the Governor of Muthanna Province after retiring from military service.

Eli Zeira is a former major general in the Israel Defense Forces. He was director of Aman, Israel's military intelligence, during the 1973 Yom Kippur War. He is most remembered for his ill-conceived prewar assessment that Egypt and Syria would not attack, despite intelligence to the contrary.
