This is a list of insurgent groups in Myanmar. They are officially known as ethnic armed organisations (EAOs) by the government of Myanmar.

It is the armed wing of the United League of Arakan (ULA), and is currently led by Major General Twan Mrat Naing. It is by far the largest insurgent group in Rakhine State. Myanmar's Anti-Terrorism Central Committee designates Arakan Army a terrorist group in accordance with the country's counter-terrorism law. According to Amnesty International, AA has perpetrated violence and abuse against civilians, including abductions and forced labour.

According to a December 2016 report by the International Crisis Group, it is led by Ataullah abu Ammar Jununi, a Rohingya man who was born in Karachi, Pakistan, and grew up in Mecca, Saudi Arabia. Other members of its leadership include a committee of Rohingya émigrés in Saudi Arabia.

The Chin people are one of the four founding members of the Union of Burma.

The Communist Party (Burma), sometimes referred to as the Red Flag Communist Party, was a communist party in Burma. The party was formed after a more radical faction broke away from the Communist Party of Burma in 1946. In the same year, it began a protracted armed insurgency; first against British rule, then against the Burmese government. The party was led by Thakin Soe, a firebrand communist leader. In the mid to late 1970s, the party lost influence and was militarily defeated after the capture of Thakin Soe in 1978.

It operates in mountainous eastern Myanmar, and has underground networks in other areas of Myanmar where Karen people live as a minority group. In the Karen language, this area is called Kawthoolei. Some of the Karen, led primarily by the Karen National Union (KNU), have waged a war against the central government since early 1949. The aim of the KNU at first was independence. Since 1976 the armed group has called for a federal system rather than an independent Karen State.

NMSP had signed a ceasefire pact with the government in 1995 but the pact turned invalid when the party refused to accept to transform itself into a border guard unit.

It was established in 1949, and was the armed wing of the Pa-O National Organisation, which has since become a political party that now has seats in the government of Myanmar.
