The war film stars Ashok Kumar, Sanjeev Kumar, Rekha, Rakesh Roshan, Farida Jalal, Sujit Kumar, Asrani, Keshto Mukherjee, Mumtaz Shanti and Rajesh Khanna. The music is by Laxmikant Pyarelal. The Hindustan Times noted that Rajesh Khanna in his cameo in the 1975 movie Aakraman as the disabled Punjabi soldier was inspiring and motivational enhanced by the two emotional songs picturised on him. There were 2 songs picturised on Rajesh Khanna, though he was in a guest appearance in the film, playing a soldier disabled in the 1965 India-Pakistan war.

Bobbili Yuddham is a 1964 Telugu-language war film, based on the Battle of Bobbili between Bobbili and Vizianagaram kingdoms in 1757. The film was produced and directed by C. Seetaram. It stars N. T. Rama Rao, Bhanumathi Ramakrishna, S.V. Ranga Rao in the lead roles and music composed by Saluri Rajeswara Rao.

Burma Rani is a 1945 Indian Tamil-language war-spy film directed by T. R. Sundaram. It starred K. L. V. Vasantha in the lead role of the female spy Mangalam and Sundaram, himself, as the lead antagonist. The film was believed to be lost until 2006, when it was rediscovered and made available on DVD.

Ceylon, titled Inam in Tamil, is a 2013 Indian war film written, directed, filmed and produced by Santosh Sivan. The story revolves around a group of teenagers in an orphanage set during the civil war in Sri Lanka. The film premiered at the 2013 Busan International Film Festival and had a theatrical release in India on 28 March 2014. Although it was positively received by critics, the film was withdrawn by Santosh Sivan from theatres, but met with protests three days later owing to protests from fringe Tamil groups in Tamil Nadu. It was election time and the film was a "U" censored, and had a Govt Tax free tag.

En Magan is 1945 Tamil Romantic Second World War front-line film directed by R. S. Mani. The film script was written by A. S. A. Swami. The film's story line was inspired by the Hollywood Classic Waterloo Bridge (play) by Robert E. Sherwood. The film starred N. Krishnamoorthi, U. R. Jeevarathinam D. Balasubramaniam and Kumari Kamala playing lead, with D. V. Narayanasami, C. K. Saraswathi, N. S. Narayana Pillai, M. M. Radhabai and S. Ramanathan playing supporting roles.

Haqeeqat is a 1964 Indian Hindi-language war-drama directed and produced by Chetan Anand. The film stars Dharmendra, Balraj Sahni, Priya Rajvansh, Sudhir, Sanjay Khan and Vijay Anand in major roles. The music of the film is composed by Madan Mohan and the lyrics of the songs are by Kaifi Azmi. The film is based on the events of the 1962 Sino-Indian War about a small platoon of soldiers in Ladakh pitched against a much larger adversary. The film was constructed around the battle of Rezang La in Ladakh and showcases a fictionalised version of the last stand of Ahir Company, 13 Kumaon led by Major Shaitan Singh. However the film is not only a representation of war, but a dramatic retelling of the impact war has on the common soldier. Chetan Anand dedicated the film to Jawaharlal Nehru and the soldiers in Ladakh. The film is widely considered as one of India's greatest black and white war-films.

Hum Dono is a 1961 Hindi film produced by Dev Anand and Navketan films. Amarjeet is credited as the film's director, but producer and star Dev Anand claimed that it was his brother Vijay Anand, who directed the film, based on his own script. The film stars Dev Anand in a double role, and also has Sadhana, Nanda and Leela Chitnis. It has been relaunched in colour after exactly 50 years on 4 February 2011. The film is also known for its music by Jaidev and became a box office hit. The movie was later made in Telugu as Ramuni Minchina Ramudu with N. T. Rama Rao. Also a Bengali movie Uttarayan was made starring Uttam Kumar in the lead based on the novel by Tarashankar Bandopadhyay. Hum Dono's story is loosely based on Uttarayan. The movie is fondly remembered for its memorable lyrics by Sahir Ludhianvi and music by Jaidev.

Kammara Sambhavam is a 2018 Indian Malayalam-language satirical-thriller film written by Murali Gopy and directed by Rathish Ambat. The film was produced by Gokulam Gopalan and stars Dileep, Siddharth, Murali Gopy, Bobby Simha, and Namitha Pramod. The film marks the Malayalam film debut of Siddharth. Principal photography began on 18 August 2016 in Kochi. The film was released in India on 14 April 2018. The film won the National Film Award for Best Production Design.

Kanche is a 2015 Indian Telugu-language war film written and directed by Krish. It features Varun Tej, Pragya Jaiswal, and Nikitin Dheer in the lead roles. Y. Rajeev Reddy and J. Sai Babu produced the film under their banner, First Frame Entertainment. Kanche revolves around the enmity between two friends—Dhupati Haribabu and Eeshwar Prasad. Haribabu and Eeshwar's sister Sitadevi graduate from the University of Madras in the late 1930s and fall in love. Due to the prevailing casteism in their native village, Eeshwar opposes their relationship and kills Sitadevi accidentally. Years later, Haribabu joins the British Indian Army as a captain to fight against the Axis powers in World War II and Eeshwar, now a colonel, is his commanding officer.

It is a sequel to the 2006 film Keerthi Chakra and the second installment in the Major Mahadevan film series, with Mohanlal reprising his role as Colonel Mahadevan The film is based on the Kargil conflict of 1999 between India and Pakistan. The political situation of the conflict is portrayed from an Indian perspective.

Maa Bhoomi is a 1979 Indian Telugu-language social problem film written and produced by B. Narsing Rao, based on a play by Krishan Chander on the Telangana Rebellion in Hyderabad State. The directorial debut of Goutam Ghose, depicts a typical life of villagers under feudalistic society in the Telangana region. Maa Bhoomi was India's official entry in the "Opera Primo" section at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival of June-July 1980, and the Cork Film Festival, October 1980, the Cairo and Sidney Film Festivals 1980. The film was showcased at the Indian Panorama of the 1980 International Film Festival of India. Maa Bhoomi won the state Nandi Award for Best Feature Film, and the Filmfare Best Film Award (Telugu). It is featured among CNN-IBN's list of hundred greatest Indian films of all time.

Moondram Ulaga Por is a 2016 Indian Tamil-language dystopian war film written and directed by Sugan Kartthi. The film stars Sunil Kumar and Akhila Kishore in the lead roles, with cinematography handled by Dheva, edits by Richard and music composed by Ved Shankar.

Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose: The Forgotten Hero is a 2004 Indian epic biographical war film, written and directed by Shyam Benegal. Palnati Yuddham is a 1947 Indian Telugu-language historical film produced by Koganti Venkata Subba Rao under the Sri Sarada Productions banner and jointly directed by Gudavalli Ramabrahmam, L. V. Prasad. Based on the Battle of Palnadu, the film stars Akkineni Nageswara Rao, Govindarajula Subba Rao and Kannamba, with music composed by Galipenchala Narasimha Rao.

Pandavas: The Five Warriors is a 2000 Indian English-language animated Hindu mythological film directed by Usha Ganesh Raja and produced by Pentamedia Graphics. Based on the five Pandava brothers from the Indian epic Mahabharata, it is India's first computer animated film, and won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in English.
