Carl-Oscar Agell was a Swedish Army officer. He served in Finland during the Winter War and back in Sweden he became commanding officer of the Jämtland Ranger Regiment. Agell headed the Swedish Delegation to the Neutral Nations Supervisory Commission and became the civil defence chief in Norrköping before retiring in 1958.

Theodor "Teto" Ahrenberg was a Swedish businessman and collector. His extensive collection featured works by artists such as Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, Marc Chagall, Le Corbusier, Olle Bærtling, Sam Francis, Mark Tobey, Christo, Lucio Fontana, Tadeusz Kantor, Enrico Baj, Jean Tinguely and Niki de Saint Phalle. Key works in the collection included the two versions of Matisse's Apollo (1953), Picasso's Nude in a rocking chair (1956) and Chagall's Les mariés sous le baldaquin (1949).

Lieutenant General Richard "Riri" Oscar Roger Åkerman was a Swedish Army officer. He was Chief of the Defence Staff from 1951 to 1957 and military commander of the III Military District from 1957 to 1963, when he retired.

Count Carl Carlsson Bonde af Björnö, more known as Carl C:son Bonde was a Swedish Army officer. Bonde was serving in the Swedish Army until 1939 when he joined the Swedish Volunteer Corps during the Winter War in Finland. Back in Sweden he became head of the department for interior affairs at the Defence Staff and finally retired from the military in 1957.

Torstein Dale was a Norwegian physician and military officer. He served as president of the Norwegian Red Cross.

James Iwan Axel Dickson was a Swedish politician, agronomist and chamberlain.

General Count Carl August Ehrensvärd was a Swedish Army officer. He was born in Karlskrona, and was son of the admiral and Minister for Naval Affairs, Carl August Ehrensvärd. Ehrensvärd left the Swedish Army in 1918 and joined the Finnish Army and saw action during the Finnish Civil War. Ehrensvärd rejoined the Swedish Army the same year and served until 1940 when he became general Ernst Linder's Chief of Staff during the Winter War as part of the Swedish Volunteer Corps. Back again in the Swedish Army, Ehrensvärd held positions such as Chief of the Defence Staff and Chief of the Army. He retired in 1957.

Martin Eugen Ekström was a Swedish military adventurer who became the leader of the National Socialist Bloc, an umbrella organization for various fascist and National Socialist groups. Ekström was born in By, Avesta Municipality. During the 1918 Finnish Civil War, he led the Vasa Regiment which was responsible of the Vyborg massacre. Lieutenant colonel Ekström led the 3rd Battlegroup of the Swedish Volunteer Corps in the Finnish Winter War. He died in Helsinki, aged 67.

The Flight Regiment 19, also known as the Swedish Voluntary Air Force or F 19 was a Finnish Air Force unit, manned by Swedish volunteers, which operated from Kemi in northern Finland for the last 62 days of the Winter War. The aircraft also came from the Swedish Air Force inventory. Its designation number was taken from the Swedish Air Force which had 18 flying regiments at the time. The designation F 19 has not been used in Sweden. When new regiments were formed they were named F 20, F 21 and F 22.

Lieutenant General Karl Eric Holm was a Swedish Army officer. His senior commands include Chief of the Army Staff and the General Staff Corps (1968–1972), military commander of the Southern Military District (1972–1980) and the Chief of Home Guard (1981–1983).

The Hungarian Volunteers in the Winter War travelled to fight for the Finns after the Soviet invasion of Finland in 1939. For a variety of reasons, volunteers from the Kingdom of Hungary fought on the side of Finland during the Winter War (1939–1940) against the Soviet Union.

His other film roles include Francisco Scaramanga in the James Bond film The Man with the Golden Gun (1974), Count Dooku in the Star Wars prequel trilogy (2002–2005), and Saruman in the Lord of the Rings film trilogy (2001–2003) and the Hobbit film trilogy (2012–2014).

Curt "Curre" Richard Lincoln was one of the most famous race car drivers in Finland, who also played Davis Cup tennis for Finland.

Ernst Linder was a Swedish general of Finnish descent who served in the Swedish Army from 1887 to 1918, after which he participated in the Finnish Civil War as the commander of the Satakunta and Savo army groups, whose responsibility stretched from Finland's western coast adjoining the Gulf of Bothnia to Näsijärvi. Linder was friends with the White Commander, Marshal Gustaf Mannerheim. Following the war, he served as Inspector of Cavalry until retiring in 1920.

Bengt Helge Ljungquist was a Swedish fencer, equestrian and military officer.

Maximo Guillermo "Max" Manus DSO, MC & Bar was a Norwegian resistance fighter during World War II, specialising in sabotage in occupied Norway. After the war. he wrote several books about his adventures and started the successful office supply company Max Manus AS.

Knud Albert Möller was a Finnish Yle radio correspondent until 1983. Möller worked as a correspondent in the front during the Continuation War. After the war he was a long-time correspondent in Copenhagen.

Lieutenant General Charles Gustaf Uno Malcolm Murray was a Swedish Army officer. Commissioned as an officer in 1925, Murray served in Finnish Army as part of the Swedish Volunteer Corps during the Winter War and as company commander in the Swedish Volunteer Battalion during the Continuation War. Back in Sweden, Murray served as regimental commander of Svea Life Guards, as Inspector of the Swedish Armoured Troops and as military commander of the II Military District. After retiring from the military, Murray served as head of the Crown Prince's Royal Household and as Chief of His Majesty's Military Staff

Arthur Georg Nordenswan was a Swedish Army officer and sport shooter who competed in the 1912 Summer Olympics.

Lieutenant General David Tage Olihn was a senior officer of the Swedish Army. Olihn's senior commands include Inspector of the Swedish Armoured Troops and military commander of the I Military District and of the Lower Norrland Military District. Olihn also served in Finland during the Winter War in 1940 and in Abyssinia two times, from 1946 to 1949, and from 1956 to 1959.

Count Carl Gustaf Ericsson von Rosen was a Swedish pioneer aviator, humanitarian, and mercenary pilot. He flew relief missions in a number of conflicts as well as combat missions for Finland and Biafran rebels. His flights for the Biafran rebels were notable for using the small Malmö MFI-9 in a ground attack role.

The Winter War was fought in the four months following the Soviet Union's invasion of Finland on November 30, 1939. This took place three months after the German invasion of Poland that triggered the start of World War II in Europe. Sweden did not become actively involved in the conflict, but did indirectly support Finland. The Swedish Volunteer Corps provided 9,640 officers and men. The Swedish Voluntary Air Force also provided 25 aircraft that destroyed twelve Soviet aircraft while only losing six planes with only two to actual enemy action and four to accidents. Sweden also provided a portion of the weapons and equipment used by the Finns throughout the war.

The Swedish Volunteer Corps during the Winter War numbered 9,640 officers and men. Sweden was officially non-belligerent during the war, so the Corps was used by Finland. The Swedish volunteers were in the front lines in the northern Salla area starting from February 28, 1940. Their losses included 33 dead, 10 missing, 50 wounded, and 130 disabled by frostbite. There were also 25 aircraft that served in the Swedish Voluntary Air Force, F19. Swedish volunteers also defended Turku in an anti-aircraft battery.

Lieutenant General Viking Sebastian Henricsson Tamm was a Swedish Army officer. In addition to the years he served in the Swedish Army, Tamm led a group of Swedish officers who developed the Ethiopian military school's officer training and he was a volunteer in the Winter War in Finland in 1940 commanding the II. Battlegroup of the Swedish Volunteer Corps. Back in Sweden he eventually became Chief of the Army Staff and the General Staff Corps (1948–53) and commander of the I Military District (1953–61) before retiring as a Lieutenant General in 1961.

Vollrath Sebastian Adolf Wilhelm Tham was a Swedish Army officer. Tham served in the Volunteer Corps during the Winter War in Finland and as battalion commander in Congo during the Congo Crisis. Tham retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1968.

Lauri Allan Törni, later known as Larry Alan Thorne, was a Finnish soldier who fought under three flags: as a Finnish Army officer in the Winter War and the Continuation War ultimately gaining a rank of captain; as a Waffen-SS captain of the Finnish Volunteer Battalion of the Waffen-SS when he fought the Red Army on the Eastern Front in World War II; and as a United States Army Captain when he served in the U.S. Army Special Forces in the Vietnam War.

Carl-Olof Wrang was a Swedish Army lieutenant colonel. Wrang joined the Waffen-SS in 1939 but deserted and instead fought the Soviets in Finland during the Winter War. Wrang also participated in the Continuation War and saw action in the Battle of Hanko. After the war, Wrang re-entered the Swedish Army and was placed in the reserve in 1946. He worked as a factory manager for a few years, before resuming his military career. Wrang served as commanding officer of the Swedish Army Paratroop School in the late-1950s and served as a UN observer in Kashmir and with the Swedish battalions during the Congo Crisis and during the Cyprus dispute in the 1960s. He retired in 1977.
