He was posthumously awarded the VC during the First World War for his actions during the Battle of Neuve Chapelle in March 1915.

Henry Arthur Richard Biziou, was a British flying ace of the First World War, credited with eight aerial victories. After serving successively in the Royal Navy and the British Army, he transferred to the Royal Air Force. After service as an observer, he trained as a fighter pilot and subsequently won his victories. He survived the war, only to die in a midair collision.

Captain Arthur "Robbie" Burns was awarded the DSO for his service during the Second World War fighting in Italy in 1944, and later had a distinguished career in the British Colonial Office and the English police. He served throughout the Italian campaign as a subaltern and later as a captain. He was wounded twice, fighting in the Anzio beachhead. He was later posted to the Middle East. In 1946, after serving in the British Palestine Mandate, he returned to the police service in his native Derbyshire.

He was the most highly decorated British private of the First World War and is most commonly remembered as the soldier who supposedly spared Adolf Hitler's life during the war. Born with the family name of Tandy, he later changed his surname to Tandey after problems with his father, therefore some military records have a different spelling of his name.
