Erik Bøgh was a Danish journalist, playwright and songwriter. From 1881 to 1899 he worked at the Royal Danish Theatre.

Holger Henrik Herholdt Drachmann was a Danish poet, dramatist and painter. He was a member of the Skagen artistic colony and became a figure of the Scandinavian Modern Breakthrough Movement.

Ilia Fibiger was a Danish writer and playwright as well as Denmark's first professional nurse. She was the elder sister of writer and feminist Mathilde Fibiger.

Johan Ludvig Heiberg, Danish poet, playwright, literary critic, literary historian son of the political writer Peter Andreas Heiberg (1758–1841), and of the novelist, afterwards the Baroness Gyllembourg-Ehrensvärd, was born in Copenhagen. He promoted Hegelian philosophy and introduced vaudeville to Denmark.

Juliane Marie Jessen was an early Danish female author and translator who made a name for herself in 1819 by winning first prize for the words she wrote for a national anthem for Denmark with her Dannemark! Dannemark! – hellige Lyd!, although it was never officially adopted. She also published other works including poetry and, in 1815, the play Ei blot til Lyst.

Sophus Michaëlis was a Danish poet, novelist and playwright. Among his works are the novels Giovanna from 1901 and Den evige søvn from 1912, and the play Revolutionsbryllup from 1906.

Birgitte Dorothea Henriette Nielsen, pen name Theodora, was a Danish author and playwright born in Strandgården, Vester Thorup, in the north of Jutland. Her Slægtningene (1849), presented in Copenhagen's Royal Danish Theatre, was particularly successful with its pre-vaudeville atmosphere, local costumes from Fanø and songs she had composed herself. It ran to 78 performances.

Adam Gottlob Oehlenschläger was a Danish poet and playwright. He introduced romanticism into Danish literature. He wrote the lyrics to the song Der er et yndigt land, which is one of the national anthem of Denmark.

Thomas Overskou was a Danish actor, playwright and theater historian and a titular professor in 1852. His plays are preserved in the Dramatic Collection of the Royal Danish Library.

She was an important female contributor to 19th-century Danish literature, publishing schoolbooks, poetry, drama and short stories. She was employed by Berlingske Tidende as a theatre critic. She also wrote about the conditions and lives of prostitutes in England, the Netherlands and Belgium.

Catharine Stolberg (1751–1832), was a Danish-German countess and writer. She published novels and plays, and was also known for her biography and her preserved correspondence.

Anna Magdalene Thoresen, née Kragh was a Danish-born Norwegian poet, novelist, short story writer and playwright. She is said to have inspired a number of other writers to model characters after her. Her stepdaughter, Suzannah Ibsen, was married to Henrik Ibsen.
