
Adamjee Jute Mill was a jute mill in Bangladesh. It was established in Narayanganj in 1950 by the Adamjee Group. It was the first jute mill in East Pakistan. Gradually, the mill became the largest jute mill in the world, exceeding the jute mills of Calcutta, India, and Dundee, Scotland. The mills were nationalised after the independence of Bangladesh in 1972. It was operated by the Bangladesh Jute Mills Corporation before being closed down in 2002.

BTCL or Bangladesh Telecommunications Company Limited is the largest telecommunications company in Bangladesh. The company was founded as the Bangladesh Telegraph & Telephone Board (BTTB) following Bangladesh's independence in 1971. On July 1, 2008 the BTTB became a public limited company and was renamed as BTCL. The Bangladesh government initially owned all BTCL shares, but stated it would sell the shares to the public the following year. The value of BTCL is estimated to be at ৳15,000 crore. Coal Power Generation Company Bangladesh Limited is a Bangladesh government owned energy company. The main objective of the Company is to generate electricity based mainly but not solely on Coal as fuel. In this regard, the Company will undertake any scheme for construction of Power Plant under the Private Sector Power Generation Policy of Bangladesh, Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Policy or any other Policy Framework of the Government. The prime initiative of the Company is to construct a 2X600 MW Coal Fired Power Plant at Matarbari and Dhalghata Union in Maheshkhali Upazilla of Cox’s Bazar District. This project consists of construction of jetty and coal handling facilities for coal import, coal storage, power plant construction, township development, rural electrification and construction of transmission facilities and road communication. The purpose of the company is to increase electricity generated from burning coal. Eco-friendly Ultra Super Critical Technology based first 2x600MW Matarbari project is scheduled to be in operation in January 2024. Eastern Refinery Limited or ERL is the sole country-owned oil refinery in Bangladesh. ERL, a subsidiary of Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation, plays a vital role in supplying around 40% of country's current petroleum products demand and thus maintains stability in petroleum, oil and lubricants (POL) products market of the country.
