It is a two-story building, finished in brick with restrained Art Deco styling. Its main facade is 10 bays wide, with a projecting section at the center housing two bays on the upper floor, and a double door entrance on the first. The entrance is set in a stepped recess, and it and the windows above are flanked by brick pilasters at the corner of the projection. The building was built in 1930, and served the Arkansas National Guard as a training and storage facility until 1980, after which ownership was turned over to the city.

It was one of 36 buildings constructed by the WPA for the Alabama National Guard, however its hilltop location, rough limestone block construction, and two towers flanking the main entry give it a castellated style, rather than the Streamline Moderne style of the other state armories. In 1978, the company was dissolved, and the armory was used as a fire station until 1998.

Over the following decades it was home to a number of Arkansas National Guard units, which moved to new facilities in 1980. The building was adapted in 1987 for use as city hall, and as a senior center.
WThe McGehee National Guard Armory is a historic armory building at 1610 South First Street in McGehee, Arkansas. The armory, built in 1954, is a single story cinder block building faced in brick veneer. The metal gable roof is supported by a steel frame, with clerestory awning windows on either side. The large central area is surrounded on three sides by single story flat-roofed sections housing offices, kitchen space, and other support areas. The design of the building is typical of those produced by the Arkansas National Guard at that time. The building was used by the National Guard until 2005, and was given to the city the following year.

It is the best example in Mena of a stone building style more typically found in the more mountainous surrounding areas. It was designed by Derwood F. Kyle of Pine Bluff, and was from the start designed to include community meeting spaces, a function the building continues to perform.

It was originally used as a combination gymnasium and armory beginning in 1894. Designed in the Romanesque revival style, it resembles a red brick castle. It is situated on the shores of Lake Mendota, overlooking Library Mall, and adjacent to Memorial Union.
WWhitefish Bay National Guard Armory was located at 1225 East Henry Clay Street, on six acres of land at the southwest corner of Henry Clay Street and Ardmore Avenue, in Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin. The red brick building with crenelated top and central tower was called "the finest armory in the state". Inside were well-lit classrooms off wide terrazzo corridors, double staircase with ornate ogee window, gymnasium, kitchen, and lounge with beamed ceiling and mammoth fireplace. Built in 1928, it was designed by prolific local architect Herbert W. Tullgren.
