Baraka is a fictional character in the Mortal Kombat fighting game series by Midway Games. He was introduced in Mortal Kombat II in 1993 as an unpredictable warrior in service of Outworld emperor Shao Kahn. He belongs to a race of nomadic mutants called Tarkatan, later revealed in Mortal Kombat: Deception to be a crossbreed between Netherealm demons and denizens of the wastelands of Outworld. His most distinctive characteristic, like most other members of his race, is a pair of long retractable blades that extend from his forearms.

They are depicted as malevolent and ugly creatures who kill indiscriminately and corrupt anything they encounter, infecting other beings with a disease known as the "Taint" which twists its victims into monstrous creatures. The supposed origins of the Darkspawn is presented in Dragon Age: Origins as a religious creation myth by the Chantry, the dominant religious organization of Thedas, which underpins the civilization player characters interacts with in each game. The Darkspawn are portrayed as an overarching threat to the world of Thedas, as they periodically rise to the surface as a unified force led by an Archdemon, the corrupted form of ancient draconic beings once worshipped as deities by human civilizations in antiquity. The Darkspawn are primarily opposed by the Grey Wardens, a military order sworn to stop the rampaging hordes of monsters from overrunning the world by any necessary means.

Doctor Neo Cortex is a fictional character and the main antagonist of the Crash Bandicoot video game series. He has appeared in every mainline game in the series as Crash Bandicoot's archenemy, as well as a playable character in several spin-off titles. Cortex is an egomaniacal mad scientist who seeks to achieve world domination with the use of the Evolvo-Ray, a machine capable of creating genetically enhanced soldiers from ordinary animals. Crash was one such subject and was intended by Cortex to be the general of his army, but was rejected as a failure preceding his escape and subsequent thwarting of Cortex's plot. As a result, Cortex is determined to eliminate Crash as an obstacle in his path to world domination. Cortex was created by Naughty Dog founders Andy Gavin and Jason Rubin, and was originally designed by Charles Zembillas. Voice actors who have portrayed Cortex include Brendan O'Brien, Clancy Brown and Lex Lang. Cortex has been positively received by reviewers, with much of the praise going to Brown's and Lang's vocal performances as well as the character's portrayal in Crash Twinsanity.

Along the way, he notably suffered an attack by Outworld emperor Shao Kahn's extermination squads that left his face disfigured, so he concealed it behind a mask. After a cameo appearance in Mortal Kombat X as an NPC character, Kabal is playable in the latest installment of the franchise, Mortal Kombat 11. He was revealed on a live stream entitled 'Kombat Kast' by the games' developers.

His backstory prior to his transformation is expanded upon in the 2011 Mortal Kombat reboot, in which he is officially seen as a human prior to automation for the first time.

His largest role in the series to date is as the main antagonist of Mortal Kombat X (2015), in which he defeats Raiden's chosen warriors in battle before being sealed inside a magic amulet, in addition to serving as the game's final boss.

Sylvanas Windrunner is a fictional character who appears in the Warcraft series of video games by Blizzard Entertainment. Originally introduced in Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos, she received a dramatic redesign in World of Warcraft: Legion to her current appearance, much more in line with her in-universe lore depictions. Once a high elf ranger-general of Silvermoon, Sylvanas was murdered by Arthas Menethil when she led a doomed resistance against his invasion. In one climactic battle, that left the capital city of Silvermoon in ruins, he managed to finally beat the elven general, ripping her soul out and transforming her into a banshee. This newest agent of the Lich King was empowered by hatred of the living and an everlasting desire to rule over her new brethren. In The Frozen Throne, Sylvanas was able to regain her free will and body and founded the Forsaken faction of undead while styling herself as the "Banshee Queen" and "Dark Lady". With her new undead forces vowing to take revenge on the Lich King, they set out to wage war against the Scourge.

Star Control II details a traumatic past that lead them to fiercely seek their own security. The Ur-Quan's military doctrine becomes a subject of intense internal conflict, leading to a civil war. In Star Control 3, developed by a different team, they ally with the player against a different antagonist and their role is scaled back.
