
Saint Sebastian Tended by Saint Irene is an incident in the legends of Saint Sebastian and Saint Irene of Rome. It was not prominent in the hagiographical literature until the late Renaissance, and is hardly seen in art before then. As an artistic subject, normally in painting, it suddenly became popular from the 1610s, though found in predella scenes as early as the 15th century, and was most popular until about the 1670s.

St. Sebastian is a painting, once part of a triptych by the Italian Renaissance artist Antonello da Messina, completed in 1477-9. It is housed in the Gemäldegalerie Alte Meister, Dresden, Germany.

Apotheosis of Saint Sebastian is a circa 1725 oil on canvas painting by the Italian Baroque painter Sebastiano Ricci. It is now in the Musée des Beaux-Arts of Strasbourg, France. Its inventory number is 994-1-5.

The Arcevia Altarpiece is a 1508 oil on panel painting by Luca Signorelli, shown in the collegiate church of San Medardo in Arcevia, for which it was originally painted. It is signed below the Madonna's feet LUCAS. SIGNORELLUS / PINGEBAT M. D. VIII.

Portrait of a Young Man as Saint Sebastian is an oil painting on panel of c. 1533 by Bronzino in the Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza in Madrid. It entered that museum's collection in 1984 from a private collection in Rieti. The work has been related to the very similar figure of Saint Matthew from the four tondi in the Capponi Chapel, on which Bronzino collaborated with Pontormo, and to a study for it which is now in the Uffizi.

Madonna of the Swallow is a painting by Carlo Crivelli. It is named after the swallow perched on the top left hand corner of the Madonna's throne - the bird was a symbol of the Resurrection. It was commissioned by Ranuzio Ottoni and Giorgio di Giacomo for the church of San Francesco in Matelica in March 1490 - Ottoni was Lord of Matelica and Giacomo was guardian of the local Franciscan monastery. It was completed between 1490 and 1492. It is now in the National Gallery, London, who bought it in 1862.

The Dei Altarpiece is an oil on panel painting by Rosso Fiorentino, commissioned in 1509 by the Dei family and completed in 1522. It is now in Florence's Galleria Palatina, whilst the Uffizi holds a preparatory drawing which may be the original idea for the work.

The Disputation on the Trinity is a c.1517 oil on canvas painting by Andrea del Sarto, now in the Galleria Palatina in Florence.

Saint Sebastian, or Martyrdom of Saint Sebastian is an autograph work by the famed artist Doménikos Theotokópoulos, commonly known as El Greco. It shows the Martyred Saint in an atypical kneeling posture which has led some scholars to believe it to be a compositional quotation of various works by other great masters whom the artist admired. The painting is currently on display in the Palencia Cathedral.

Saint Sebastian is a 1610–1614 oil on canvas painting by El Greco, the last of his three portrayals of Saint Sebastian. It survives in two large fragments, both of which are in the Prado Museum; the top half was donated by the Countess of Mora y Aragón in 1959 and the lower half was acquired in 1987.

Saint Sebastian Tended by Saint Irene is a c.1634-1643 oil on canvas painting of Saint Sebastian having his wounds tended by Saint Irene, which suddenly became a popular subject in the 1620s. It is now in the Gemäldegalerie, Berlin.

Saint Sebastian Tended by Saint Irene is a c.1649 painting by Georges de La Tour. It is the largest known painting by the artist and his most ambitious composition. It was rediscovered in 1945 in the parish church of Bois-Anzeray and acquired by the Société des amis du Louvre for the Louvre in 1979 as inventory number R.F. 1979-53.

St Sebastian is a 20th-century painting by the Bohemian artist Bohumil Kubišta. Saint Sebastian was a Christian martyr. It is held in the National Gallery in Prague.

Mystical Marriage of St. Catherine is a painting by the Italian Renaissance painter Filippino Lippi, dated 1503. It is housed in the Isolani Chapel of the Basilica di San Domenico, a church of the Dominican Order in Bologna.

Madonna and Child with Saint Roch and Saint Sebastian is a c.1518 oil on canvas painting by Lorenzo Lotto, now in the National Gallery of Canada in Ottawa. On the left is saint Roch and to the right is saint Sebastian.

Madonna and Child with Saint Roch and Saint Sebastian is a c.1528 oil on canvas painting on one of the side altars of the church of Sant'Andrea in Pralboino, Province of Brescia, Italy. It was originally painted for the church of San Rocco in the town, where it was seen by Francesco Paglia in 1660. There is then no further mention of it in the written record until the 19th century, in studies by Carl Ransonnet in 1845 and by Stefano Fenaroli in 1875, which state it was by then in the church of Sant'Andrea - it had probably moved between 1782 and 1790 when the parish church was rebuilt in its present form.

Madonna and Child with Saint Sebastian and Saint Vincent Ferrer or Madonna and Child with Saint Sebastian and Saint Thomas Aquinas is a 1506 oil on panel painting by Andrea Previtali, produced in Venice while he was still in the studio of Giovanni Bellini and contemporary with the same artist's Madonna and Child. It is now in the Accademia Carrara in Bergamo, to which it passed from Guglielmo Lochis's collection in 1866.

St. Sebastian is the subject of three paintings by the Italian Early Renaissance master Andrea Mantegna. The Paduan artist lived in a period of frequent plagues; Sebastian was considered protector against the plague as having been shot through by arrows, and it was thought that plague spread abroad through the air.

Martyrdom of Saint Sebastian is a 1498 tempera on panel painting by Luca Signorelli, now in the Pinacoteca Comunale in Città di Castello. Its date was on its predella, which is now lost. It was the third major work Signorelli produced in Città di Castello and the only one still in the city.
The Mestre Altarpiece was a c.1500-1502 altarpiece by Cima da Conegliano. The side panels of Saint Roch and Saint Sebastian from the work are now in the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Strasbourg, whilst the central section showing St Catherine of Alexandria and the lunette of Madonna and Child between St Dominic and St Francis are both in the Wallace Collection in London. The central section is signed on a pedestal "JOANIS BABTISTE CONEGLANESIS OPUS".

Olera Altarpiece is an oil on panel nine-panel altarpiece by Cima da Conegliano, created c. 1486-1488, housed in the parish church in Olera.

Madonna with Child Enthroned between Saints John the Baptist and Sebastian is a painting by the Italian Renaissance artist Pietro Perugino, executed in 1493, and housed in the Uffizi Gallery, Florence.

St Sebastian is one of several paintings of Saint Sebastian by Perugino. It shows him three-quarter length and is signed "P[I]E[T]RUS PERUSINUS PINXIT" on the arrow in his neck. It was painted in 1493-1494. It is now in the Hermitage Museum in St Petersburg.

Saint Sebastian is a c.1495 painting of Saint Sebastian by Perugino, now in the Louvre collection. It was temporarily on display at the Louvre-Lens branch between 2012 and 2017. It is probably the work mentioned in the 17th century inventory of the Barberini collection in Rome, which was later dispersed. Several pieces from it were taken abroad during the 19th century, with St Sebastian being bought by the Louvre in 1896.

St Sebastian is a oil on penal painting by Perugino, executed c. 1490. The painting has been in the Nationalmuseum in Stockholm since 1928. It is one of the artist's earliest depictions of Saint Sebastian, showing him as an ephebos, or male adolescent, unlike his later treatments based on the Doryphoros, such as that in the Louvre. It is signed "Petrus Perusinus pinxit".

St Sebastian is a c.1507 painting of St Sebastian by Perugino. It is thought to be an autograph copy of his original in the Louvre - it is near identical to that work, only lacking its inscription and its ruins. It is now in the São Paulo Museum of Art.

St Sebastian between St Roch and St Peter is a fragment of a fresco by Perugino, painted around 1478 in the church of Santa Maria Assunta in Cerqueto, Italy. It was his first depiction of Saint Sebastian, a subject to which he would frequently return. To the left is St Roch and to the right St Peter.

The Tezi Altarpiece is a painting by the Italian Renaissance painter Pietro Perugino, housed in the Galleria Nazionale dell'Umbria of Perugia, Italy. The work was once associated to a single predella panel portraying the Last Supper, now at the Gemäldegalerie of Berlin.

The Martyrdom of St Sebastian is a 1505 fresco painting by Perugino in the church of San Sebastiano in Panicale. It shows the martyrdom of St Sebastian in an ancient Roman setting, with God the Father in a tondo above.

The Martyrdom of Saint Sebastian is a work by Piero del Pollaiuolo, commissioned by the Florentine Pucci family and now in the National Gallery, London.

Saint Sebastian is a c. 1657 oil on canvas painting of saint Sebastian by Mattia Preti, now in the National Museum of Capodimonte in Naples. It was painted for the nuns of the church of San Sebastiano, Naples during Preti's first stay in Naples, showing how heavily he was influenced by Caravaggio at that time. It was not well-received and was finally moved to a private family chapel in Santa Maria dei Sette Dolori, another church in Naples. There it remained until 1974, when it was moved to its present home for security reasons.

St. Sebastian is a painting of early Christian saint and martyr Saint Sebastian by the Italian High Renaissance artist Raphael, c. 1501-1502. Part of his early works, it is housed in the Accademia Carrara of Bergamo, Italy.

Saint Sebastian is a c.1625 oil on canvas painting of saint Sebastian by Guido Reni. It was previously in the private collection of the Dukes of Hamilton, from which it was sold to its present owner, Auckland Art Gallery in New Zealand.

Saint Sebastian is an oil on canvas painting of Saint Sebastian, now in the Dulwich Picture Gallery. It was worked on by Guido Reni himself from 1620 to 1639 but left unfinished. It is almost identical to another copy of the work in Auckland, though that work is much smaller and has slightly different colouring. The Dulwich work was catalogued as a studio work in 1880 and in 1980 as a copy, but is now accepted as one of two autograph copies of the original.

St Sebastian is a painting of c. 1614 by Peter Paul Rubens, showing the Christian Saint Sebastian. It dates to the early years of Rubens' stay in Rome - its sinuous line and defined figures are thought to be the result of his studies of Michelangelo and of Flemish Mannerism. It was bought by the Borghese directly from cardinal Neri Corsini in Brussels. It is now in the Borghese collection.

Saint Sebastian and the Angel is a late 1620s painting by the Italian artist from Ferrara, Carlo Bononi. The work is now in the Musée des Beaux-Arts of Strasbourg, France.

Saint Sebastian Thrown into the Cloaca Maxima is a 1612 oil on canvas painting by Ludovico Carracci, now in the Getty Museum in Los Angeles, which acquired it in 1971. A preparatory drawing survives in the Louvre.

The San Giobbe Altarpiece is a c. 1487 oil painting by the Italian Renaissance master Giovanni Bellini. Inspired by a plague outbreak in 1485, this sacra conversazione painting is unique in that this piece was designed in situ with the surrounding architecture of the church, and was one of the largest sacra conversazione paintings at the time. Although it was originally located in the Church of San Giobbe, Venice, it is now housed in the Gallerie dell'Accademia in Venice after having been stolen by Napoleon Bonaparte.

The Santo Spirito Altarpiece is a 1521 oil on panel painting by Lorenzo Lotto, signed and dated "L. Lotus / 1521". The work shows the Madonna and Child with saints Catherine of Alexandria, Augustine of Hippo, Sebastian and Anthony the Great. At the foot of the throne is John the Baptist as a child with the Lamb of God.

Our Lady of Mercy with Saints and Angels is a c.1490 painting by Luca Signorelli, showing Our Lady of Mercy flanked by Saint Sebastian and Bernardino of Siena. It is now in the Diocesan Museum in Pienza.

The Suardi Chapel is an oratory or private chapel inside the villa in Trescore Balneario, Province of Bergamo owned by the Suardi counts. It is dedicated to Saint Barbara and Saint Brigid and was completely rebuilt by the cousins Giovan Battista and Maffeo Suardi. It is fully covered in 1524 frescoes commissioned by them from by Lorenzo Lotto of Christ the Vine and Lives of the Saints. In the 19th century count Gianforte Suardi built a corridor connecting the chapel to the villa and modified the chapel entrance - those entering had previously immediately found themselves in front of the north wall with its depiction of Christ the Vine.

Saint Sebastian Tended by Irene is an oil-on-canvas painting by Hendrick ter Brugghen dated to 1625. Now in the Allen Memorial Art Museum of Oberlin, Ohio, the piece depicts the Roman Catholic subject of Saint Sebastian Tended by Saint Irene, after Irene of Rome and her maid rescued him following his attempted martyrdom by the Roman authorities. An exemplary piece of the Italianate Baroque tendency in Dutch Golden Age painting, the painting employs dramatic uses of light and skillful chiaroscuro to depict its religious subject, evidence of influence from Caravaggio and Ter Brugghen's fellow Utrecht Caravaggisti.

Saint Sebastian is a 1570-72 painting of Saint Sebastian by Titian, now in the Hermitage Museum in Saint Petersburg.

St. Mark Enthroned is an early painting by the Italian Renaissance artist Titian, executed in 1510 or 1511, which is still in the church of Santa Maria della Salute in Venice.
