Head of a Walrus is a 1521 pen drawing painted in watercolour by the German artist Albrecht Dürer, now in the British Museum, London. At the time the walrus' main European population was around Scandinavia, and they were exotic to inland Europeans. The work reflects Dürer fascination with what he perceived as unusual animals, with similarly intentioned works including depictions of lions and rhinoceros. The drawing created as part of a larger series of 167 drawings of quadrupeds.

Head of Christ is a painting in oil on panel by the Italian Renaissance painter Correggio, dated 1521. It depicts the head of Christ, wearing the crown of thorns. In the background there is a white cloth showing that the image represents the Veil of Veronica, but Christ's head is given volume through alternate use of light and dark shadows. The painting is in the J. Paul Getty Museum in Malibu, Los Angeles. Correggio was known for creating some of the most sumptuous religious paintings of the period. The Getty Museum considers this artwork as one of the masterpieces of painting held by the museum.

Villamagna Altarpiece is a 1521 oil on panel painting by Rosso Fiorentino, produced for Pieve dei Santi Giovanni Battista e Felicita, Villamagna's parish church, where it remained until the mid 1860s. It is now in the Diocesan Museum in Volterra. The artist's second commission in Volterra after Deposition, it is signed and dated in the lower left-hand corner. To the left of the Madonna and Child is John the Baptist in his camel-skin tunic and holding a cross, whilst to the left is Saint Bartholomew holding an open book and the knife used to flay him.
