Attic has been inactive since 2001. The founder, Hans-Jürgen Brändle, was reported to have died in Las Vegas during the month of August, 2005.

CDV Software Entertainment AG was a German publisher of video games founded 1989 in Karlsruhe. On April 17, 2000 cdv became a Frankfurt stock market traded company. In the beginning of the 2000s CDV was the biggest German publisher in the German video game market. They opened a UK office in 2008. In 2010, VG247 reported that they filed for preliminary insolvency when SouthPeak Games failed to pay a settlement.

DTP Entertainment AG was a German video game publisher, founded in 1995 by Thomas Baur and located in Hamburg. At its time it was one of Germany's leading game publishers. DTP was known for having published a high number of games which were developed in Germany, especially adventure games. The company was also acting as a video game distributor.

Factor 5 GmbH is an independent software and video game developer. The company was co-founded by five former Rainbow Arts employees in 1987 in Cologne, Germany, which served as the inspiration behind the studio's name.

Fishtank Interactive was a German publishing label and was a division of Ravensburger Spieleverlag's Ravensburger Interactive. It was founded in 2000 to try to expand the horizons of Ravensburger Spieleverlag by publishing more mature games than the rest of the mostly pre-school oriented games of the company, without sullying its reputation. Its releases were usually action games, or real-time strategies, and were known for low production values highlighted by the lack of important features like multi-player playability. The division alongside its parent were sold in May 2002 to JoWooD Productions.

Kingsoft GmbH was a German video game company based in Aachen. The company was founded in 1982 by Fritz Schäfer out of his parents' house in Mulartshütte (Roetgen) to sell his chess simulation game Boss, which he developed the year before. Kingsoft expanded into third-party publishing in 1983, starting with Galaxy by Henrik Wening. Most of their games were released for computers developed by Commodore International, predominantly the Commodore 64, Commodore 16 and later Amiga, and were usually based on other company's titles for different platforms. Kingsoft moved to Aachen in 1987 and established a distribution service before ceasing publishing in favour of distribution in 1993. The company was acquired in March 1995 by Electronic Arts, who retired the Kingsoft name later that year.

Founded as Massive Development GbR, the company was active between 1994 and 2005 and is primarily known for their post-apocalyptic science fiction video games Archimedean Dynasty and AquaNox, which have attained somewhat of a cult status.

In 1999, Funsoft Holding, which acquired Rushware and sister company Softgold in 1992, sold Rushware to THQ, which was incorporated into THQ Deutschland, THQ's German operations arm.
