The title quotes Frankie Knuckles, who had described house music as being "disco's revenge".

"Get Up, Stand Up" is a song by house music DJ/producer Laurence Nelson, who recorded the track under the project Phunky Phantom. It also reached number 9 in the UK and number 38 on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart in the US. The song has been remixed and re-released several times. A remixed version, called "Hideaway 1998", which featured a mix by Nu‑Birth, peaked at number 21 in 1998. The song was released a third time in 2006 and reached number 82 in the Netherlands.

"Look Right Through" is a song by American record producer Storm Queen, vocals by Damon C. Scott. It was first released on 19 October 2010, with two remix packages released through Defected in February 2012. On 3 November 2013, Ministry of Sound re-released the song in Ireland and Britain including new remixes. The vocal remix by MK was hugely successful in the United Kingdom, and helped the track enter at number one on the UK Singles Chart and UK Dance Chart simultaneously on 10 November 2013.

"Strings of Life" is a 1987 single by American electronic musician Derrick May, under the name Rhythim Is Rhythim. It is his most well-known song and considered a classic in both the house music and techno genres. May is credited with developing the futuristic variation that would be dubbed "techno". LA Weekly ranked the song at number-one in their list of "The 20 Best Dance Music Tracks in History" in 2015.

"That Look" is a 1996 song by American house-music group De'Lacy. It features vocals by lead vocalist Rainie Lassiter. Kevin Hedge and Josh Milan wrote the song which was published by Warner Chappell Music Ltd., and produced by Blaze. It was a big hit in clubs and charted at number 19 on the UK Singles Chart in 1996. On the Eurochart Hot 100, "That Look" reached number 41. And in the US, it peaked at number 27 at the Dance Club Songs chart by Billboard.
