
The characters of the PlayStation role-playing game Final Fantasy IX. Filling four CD-ROMs, Final Fantasy IX featured a cast containing a variety of major and minor characters. Players could control a maximum of four characters for combat at once, with eight main playable characters in the party and a few other, temporary characters.

The Dark Queen is the main antagonist of the Battletoads video game series by Rare introduced in the original Battletoads in 1991. Dark Queen is the nemesis of the protagonistic Battletoads. She is a mysterious master of evil magic and the supreme commander of a space army bent on galactic conquest. The character has received considerable attention due to her sex appeal as well as for being one of the first major female villains in video games.

Final Fantasy IV, a role-playing video game released by Square in 1991, revolves around Cecil Harvey, a knight of Baron who embarks on a quest to defeat Golbez, a man that is controlling the king of Baron. During Cecil's quest, he is joined by his childhood friends Kain Highwind and Rosa Farrell, as well as other warriors from around the world who also seek to stop Golbez. The visuals of the characters were designed by Yoshitaka Amano. After its initial release, Final Fantasy IV was later ported to multiple consoles. In 2007, Square Enix released an enhanced remake for the Nintendo DS that added voice acting to both the Japanese and English versions.

Kat, known in Japan as Kitten, is a fictional character and the protagonist of the Gravity Rush series. A teenage girl with retrograde amnesia, she awakens in the city of Hekseville after falling from the sky, and sets out to discover the origins of her power to shift gravity. She becomes a hero to the people of the city after defending them from the threat of mysterious creatures called the Nevi. Her powers stem entirely from Dusty, a supernatural, cat-like organism that is bound to her, and whom she later realizes is a type of being known as a Guardian. Kat has received critical praise for the unique nature of her powers, leading to inventive gameplay scenarios, as well as her optimistic personality, which has been noted to set her apart from typical superheroes.

Sarah Louise Kerrigan, the self-styled Queen of Blades, is a fictional character in Blizzard Entertainment's StarCraft franchise. The character was created by Chris Metzen and James Phinney, and her appearance was originally designed by Metzen. Sarah Kerrigan is voiced by Glynnis Talken Campbell in StarCraft and Brood War, Tricia Helfer in StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty, Heart of the Swarm and Legacy of the Void, and Vanessa Marshall in Heroes of the Storm.

Morrigan Aensland is a fictional antiheroine and the female protagonist in Capcom's Darkstalkers series. Having debuted in 1994's Darkstalkers: The Night Warriors, she has since appeared in every game in the series and in various related media and merchandise, as well as in multiple video games outside the Darkstalkers line, including in most entries in both Marvel vs. Capcom and SNK vs. Capcom.

Sindel is a character in the Mortal Kombat fighting game series. She made her debut in Mortal Kombat 3 as the mother of Princess Kitana and the unwilling Queen of the evil emperor Shao Kahn. Sindel is only a supporting character with few overall playable appearances in the games, but she still plays a relevant part in the series storyline, especially in Mortal Kombat 3 and the 2011 reboot of the series.

Sylvanas Windrunner is a fictional character who appears in the Warcraft series of video games by Blizzard Entertainment. Originally introduced in Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos, she received a dramatic redesign in World of Warcraft: Legion to her current appearance, much more in line with her in-universe lore depictions. Once a high elf ranger-general of Silvermoon, Sylvanas was murdered by Arthas Menethil when she led a doomed resistance against his invasion. In one climactic battle, that left the capital city of Silvermoon in ruins, he managed to finally beat the elven general, ripping her soul out and transforming her into a banshee. This newest agent of the Lich King was empowered by hatred of the living and an everlasting desire to rule over her new brethren. In The Frozen Throne, Sylvanas was able to regain her free will and body and founded the Forsaken faction of undead while styling herself as the "Banshee Queen" and "Dark Lady". With her new undead forces vowing to take revenge on the Lich King, they set out to wage war against the Scourge.

Tyris Flare, written as Tyris=Flare in her early appearances, is one of the main protagonists of Sega's video game franchise Golden Axe and the sole playable character in Golden Axe: Beast Rider. Tyris was introduced as a princess-turned-amazon in the original beat 'em up game Golden Axe in 1989, and was controversially rebooted as a religious warrior in the 2008 action-adventure reboot Beast Rider. In both of her incarnations, she is fighting against evil forces in a heroic fantasy setting and in particular seeking have her revenge on the power-hungry warlord Death Adder. Tyris has been one of the most popular early heroes of the beat 'em up and hack and slash genres. She is known as one of the iconic female characters of the 16-bit era.

Princess Zelda is the titular character in Nintendo's The Legend of Zelda video game series. She was created by Shigeru Miyamoto and introduced in the original 1986 game The Legend of Zelda. She appears in several incarnations throughout the series, generally as a member of Hyrule's royal family, an associate of the protagonist Link and bearer of the Triforce of Wisdom.
