
The International Skating Union (ISU) is the international governing body for competitive ice skating disciplines, including figure skating, synchronized skating, speed skating, and short track speed skating. It was founded in Scheveningen, Netherlands, in July 1892, making it one of the oldest international sport federations. The ISU was formed to establish standardized international rules and regulations for the skating disciplines it governs, and to organize international competitions in these disciplines. It is now based in Lausanne, Switzerland.

The Italian Ice Sports Federation, is the governing body for ice sports in Italy. It was founded in September 1926 to promote the practice of winter sports on ice and to coordinate events. The FISG is a member of a number of international sports organizations including the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) and the International Skating Union (ISU).

The National Skating Federation is the national governing body for skating in Kazakhstan. The organisation was founded in 1992 among local ski clubs. The National Skating Federation represents international interests of the Kazakhstani skiing and trains athletes and trainers. The NSK headquarters are located in Nur-Sultan at the Alau Ice Palace. Current NSK president is Bolat Zhamishev.

The Norwegian Skating Association is the main skating authoritative body in Norway. It oversees speed skating, figure skating, short track speed skating on ice and more recently inline and roller skating.

The Philippine Skating Union (PhSU) is the sports governing body of the Philippines for figure skating and short track speedskating. PhSU was granted provisional membership on June 13, 2004 by the International Skating Union. Full membership was granted upon the completion of an Olympic size skating rink at the SM Mall of Asia. PhSU was originally established as the Ice Skating Institute of the Philippines.

The Royal Spanish Ice Sports Federation (Spanish: Real Federación Española de Deportes de Hielo is the administrative body for ice sports in Spain. It is a member of the Spanish Olympic Committee and, in partnership with the Royal Spanish Winter Sports Federation, represents Spain in all international interactions regarding the Winter Olympics. The RFEDH is headquartered in Barcelona and its president is Frank González, a former ice hockey player and official.

Speed Skating Canada is the governing body for competitive long track and short track speed skating in Canada. It was founded in 1887, five years before the International Skating Union of which SSC later became a member in 1894.
