The Alachua Formation is a Miocene geologic formation in Florida. The claystones, sandstones and phosphorites of the formation preserve many fossils of mammals, birds, reptiles and fish, among others megalodon.

The Dengying Formation is an upper Ediacaran fossiliferous geologic formation found in South China. It was deposited on a shallow marine carbonate platform.

The Doushantuo Formation is a fossil Lagerstätte in Weng'an County, Guizhou Province, China that is notable for being one of the oldest beds to contain minutely preserved microfossils, phosphatic fossils that are so characteristic they have given their name to "Doushantuo type preservation". The formation is of particular interest because a part of it appears to cover the boundary between the enigmatic organisms of the Ediacaran geological period and the more familiar fauna of the Cambrian explosion where lifeforms recognizable as ancestors of later and recent lifeforms first emerged. Taken as a whole, the Doushantuo Formation ranges from about 635 Ma at its base to about 551 Ma at its top, predating by perhaps five Ma the earliest of the 'classical' Ediacaran faunas from Mistaken Point on the Avalon peninsula of Newfoundland, and recording conditions up to a good forty to fifty million years before the Cambrian explosion.

The Marks Head Formation is a geologic formation in Georgia. It preserves fossils dating back to the Burdigalian stage of the Miocene period.

The Melovatka Formation is a Cenomanian geologic formation in Russia. Pterosaur fossils have been recovered from the formation.

The Mishash Formation is a Late Cretaceous (Campanian-Maastrichtian) geologic formation in Israel. The formation is correlated with the Duwi Formation of Egypt and the Amman and Ruseifa Formations of Jordan. Mosasaur fossils assigned to Prognathodon currii and pterosaur fossils have been recovered from the formation.

The Purisima Formation is a geologic formation in California. It preserves fossils dating from the Late Miocene to Early Pleistocene.

The Quercy Phosphorites Formation is a geologic formation and Lagerstätte in Occitanie, southern France. It preserves fossils dating back to the Paleogene period, or MP16 to MP28 zones of the European land mammal age classification, ranging from approximately 38 to 25 Ma.

The Rybushka Formation is a Campanian geologic formation in the Penza and Saratov Oblasts of European Russia. Pterosaur, fish and invertebrate fossils have been recovered from the formation.

The Santa Margarita Formation is a Neogene Period geologic formation in the San Joaquin Valley of central California.

The Upper Greensand Formation is a Cretaceous formation of Albian to Cenomanian in age. It is found within the Wessex Basin and parts of the Weald Basin in southern England. It overlies the Gault Clay and underlies the Chalk Group. It varies in thickness from zero to 75 m. It is predominantly a glauconitic fine-grained sandstone, locally becoming silty. Fragmenary dinosaurs remains such as those assigned to Iuticosaurus, have been recovered from this formation.

The Williamsburg Formation is a geologic formation in South Carolina consisting of sandy shale and clayey sand. It is a member of the Black Mingo Group and overlays the Rhems Formation. It preserves fossils, among others coprolites, dating back to the Paleogene period.
