The 10 meter air pistol is an Olympic shooting event governed by the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF). It is similar to 10 meter air rifle in that it is shot with 4.5 mm caliber air guns at a distance of 10 metres (11 yards), and that the match consists of a qualification round of 60 competition shots within 75 minutes. If an Electronic Scoring System (EST) is not available, 15 minutes are added to the time limit. Competitors are allowed to shoot an unlimited amount of shots during the 15 minutes preparation and sighting time. Along with the 50 meter pistol, it is considered a precision shooting event. Thus, numerous shooters compete in both events.

The use of specialized clothing is allowed to improve the stability of the shooting position and prevent chronic back injury which can be caused by the asymmetric offset load on the spine when the rifle is held in position. It is one of the ISSF-governed shooting events included in the Olympic games.

The Crosman model 1322 Medalist .22 Caliber Pellet Air Pistol was a single-shot, bolt-action loading, pneumatic pump-action .22-caliber air pistol, featuring a button-rifled 10.1-in. (256 mm) steel barrel and checkered plastic grips. The 1322 was introduced in 1977 by Crosman as a general-purpose air pistol for target practice and small game hunting. It was in production, in three separate manufacturing versions, until 2004, when it was discontinued from sale in the U.S.A. In 2012 the gun has been reintroduced by Crosman.

The Crosman model 1377 is a single-shot, bolt-action, pneumatic .177 caliber pellet gun, featuring a rifled steel barrel and imitation wood checkered plastic grips. The 1377 was introduced in 1977, and has been in continuous production ever since. A separately available shoulder stock converts the rather long pistol into a carbine. The 1377 is not a competition level target airgun, but its long rifled barrel makes it fairly accurate.

Gamo Outdoor S.L.U, or simply Gamo, is a Spanish airgun manufacturer based in Barcelona, Spain, and is the largest producer of airguns in Europe and the largest producer of airgun pellets in the world. The company was founded in 1959, as El Gamo, and airgun production first started in 1961. Today Gamo products include air rifles, air pistols, ammunition and optics. They produce primarily airguns intended for mass market.

Gel blasters, also known as gel guns, gel shooters, gel markers, hydro markers, hydro blasters or gelsoft, are toy guns similar in design to airsoft guns, but the projectiles they shoot are 6–8 mm (0.24–0.31 in) superabsorbent polymer water beads, which are often sold commercially as moisture retainers for gardening and pot/vase floriculture.

A paintball marker, also known as a paintball gun, paint gun, or simply marker, is an air gun used in the shooting sport of paintball, and the main piece of paintball equipment. Paintball markers use compressed gas, such as carbon dioxide (CO2) or compressed air (HPA), to propel dye-filled gel capsules called paintballs through the barrel and quickly strike a target. The term "marker" is derived from its original use as a tool for forestry personnel to mark trees and ranchers to mark wandering cattle.

A pellet is a non-spherical projectile designed to be shot from an air gun, and an airgun that shoots such pellets is commonly known as a pellet gun. Air gun pellets differ from bullets and shot used in firearms in terms of the pressures encountered; airguns operate at pressures as low as 50 atmospheres, while firearms operate at thousands of atmospheres. Airguns generally use a slightly undersized projectile that is designed to obturate upon shooting so as to seal the bore, and engage the rifling; firearms have sufficient pressure to force a slightly oversized bullet to fit the bore in order to form a tight seal. They are built to fire chunks of potato, as a hobby, or to fire other sorts of projectiles, for practical use. Originally developed and the trademark owned by Crosman Corporation and introduced to the market in 1954, the Powerlet CO2 cartridge has become the dominant source of power for inexpensive, rapid fire air guns from many manufacturers.

The Walther CP 88 is a sport and training pistol that shoots pellets using compressed CO2 according to the principle of an air gun. The design of the gun is borrowed from the widely used pistol Walther P88. It is manufactured by Umarex.

The Walther LG400 is an air rifle first introduced in 2010 as the successor to the Walther LG300. It is a PCP powered by compressed air from a removable air cylinder. It was designed as a 10 metre air rifle for indoor competition use. It has been successfully modified to 16 Joule of kinetic energy for Field Target (FT) and Hunter Field Target (HFT) outdoor use.

The Weihrauch HW 77 is an underlever-cocked, spring-piston air rifle developed and manufactured by the German sporting weapons manufacturer Weihrauch. Renowned for its accuracy, the HW 77 is widely considered the most successful underlever air rifle ever made. It is also known for its rugged construction, considerable weight and precision adjustable trigger. The gun was marketed and sold as the Beeman HW 77 in the American market.
